At the Albany Whaling station ...

The whaling station in Albany was the very last station to close in Australia. It was finally closed in 1978 with the loss of 120 jobs. It took Albamy 10 years to recover from the blow to its economy. The old station is now a monument to the whaling industry. The Cheynes IV was the last 'chaser ship' to hunt for whales and is now permanently moored in Albany. Posted by Picasa
